GETTY IMAGES (BLOOMBERG)JetBlue has been launching new services to vacation destinations as part of a strategy to focus on routes with high potential for leisure demand.
JetBlue Airways, which recently added more service to beach destinations, is now launching seasonal flights to the ski slopes of Telluride, Colorado.
The New York-based carrier said it will launch new nonstop winter service to Montrose Regional Airport in western Colorado from Boston Logan International Airport, New York John F. Kennedy International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport for flights beginning Dec. 19.
JetBlue (Nasdaq: JBLU) said it will be the only airline to offer nonstop service between Montrose and New England.
Flights between New York JFK and Montrose and between LAX and Montrose will be on Saturdays, Dec. 19 through Feb. 20. The schedule between Boston and Montrose will be on Saturdays and select Wednesdays, Dec. 19 through March 27.
JetBlue will operate all routes using its Airbus A320 aircraft.
Last month, JetBlue announced it was starting new routes to vacation destinations as part of a strategy to add routes with high potential for leisure demand. The airline is expanding its presence at Newark Liberty National Airport with additional Caribbean routes and adding new domestic and international routes in Los Angeles. The new routes come on top of the 30 new destinations in the U.S. JetBlue announced in June, also primarily beefing up its service to leisure destinations.
