REAL ESTATE PRICES HITTING NEW HIGH ALL ACROSS THE WEST SLOPE

The continuing boom of real estate in the resorts areas of Colorado is now spreading to the smaller surrounding towns:

  • Last year, eight West Slope counties had $6.6 billion in real estate sales through August
  • Through August this year, sales in those counties totaled $11.2 billion, a 71 percent increase
  • With four months left in 2021, sales volume in those counties has already surpassed total sales in 2019 by more than $2 billon
  • Prices and sales have peaked this year in the North Fork Valley of Delta County, Fairplay, Rifle, Silt, Kremmling, Del Norte and Craig
  • In Delta County, sales volume is up 64 percent over 2020; the average price of a home, $360,000, is 20 percent higher
  • In Montrose County, through August, sales volume was up 75 percent over last year, with the average price of a home at $402,000, 20 percent higher than 2020 and 35 percent higher than 2019
