Telluride

To some, Telluride is known for world-class alpine skiing, and to others, summers full of cultural events and endless outdoor activities. But what runs true for everyone is Telluride’s authentic mountain character, unpretentious attitude and celebration of four seasons of adventure in the Rocky Mountain high country.

Telluride is tucked into a box canyon surrounded by 13,000- and 14,000-foot peaks, and is just eight blocks wide and twelve blocks long. Because of its significant role in the history of the American West, Telluride was designated a National Historic Landmark District in 1964. The town's colorful Victorian-era homes, clapboard storefronts and historic buildings now mix with boutiques, art galleries, gourmet restaurants and much more. Perched above Telluride at 9,500 feet, Mountain Village complements the historic mining town with European-style architecture, modern amenities, ski-in/ski-out hotels and sweeping views of the surrounding peak. Telluride and Mountain Village are linked by a spectacular, 13-minute ride on a free gondola — the first and only free public transportation system of its kind in North America.

Continually ranked the #1 Ski Resort in North America by Condé Nast TravelerTelluride Ski Resort boasts uncrowded slopes and exceptional terrain for all levels and abilities, along with a lift-served backcountry experience with hike-to terrain. When it’s time to take a break from carving turns, the destination also serves up everything from snowshoeing and Nordic skiing to sleigh rides and fat bike tours.

There is no place quite like Telluride in the summer — kids float down the San Miguel River through town on inner tubes, cyclists and hikers head off in every direction, locals and visitors alike wander the galleries and shops or park themselves on the benches along Main Street. In addition, you'll also find a bevy of summer festivals, ranging from music fests to the renowned Telluride Film Festival.
