COLORADO AVALANCHE WIN THE STANLEY CUP

COLORADO AVALANCHE WIN THE STANLEY CUP, PARADE THURSDAY

The Colorado Avalanche defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 in Game 6 to win the Stanley Cup. It is the third time the Avalanche have won the Stanley Cup, the last came in 2001. The Avalanche scored the go-ahead goal mid-way through the second period and then held on with a strong defensive effort in the third period allowing Tampa Bay only four shots on goal. Denver officials announced there will be a parade and celebration Thursday, with the parade starting at 10 a.m. at Union Station and proceeding down 17th Street before ending in Civic Center Park for the championship ceremony.
