NEW ROAD OPENS TO YELLOWSTONE AS ROADS CLOSE FOR THE WINTER SEASON

NEW ROAD OPENS TO YELLOWSTONE AS ROADS CLOSE FOR THE WINTER SEASON

Officials from Montana and the National Park Service gathered at the North Entrance of Yellowstone National Park Saturday to celebrate the reopening of the rebuilt Old Gardiner Road, a former stagecoach route into the park, which now connects to the North Entrance of Yellowstone near Gardiner, Montana. The reopening of the North Entrance Road came as the park prepared to close roads for winter. All roads in the interior of Yellowstone closed Nov. 1, with the exception of the new North Entrance access and the northeast access via Wyoming Hwy. 296, through Silver Gate and Cooke City, Montana. That route remains open all winter. Up-to-date information on Yellowstone National Park roads is available at nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit.
